Our Mission
The aims of the Society of Canary & Finch Breeders (as a non-profit avicultural organization) are to promote the development, improvement and breeding of Canaries and Finches; to assist those engaged in the care and breeding of birds; to exhibit at accredited shows; to sponsor an annual show; and generally, to foster appreciation for and extend knowledge of such birds.

BRINGING BIRD FANCIERS TOGETHER FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS

Welcome,

On behalf of the NBS Board of Directors I would like to welcome you all to the 71st National Cage Bird Show.

Each year we gather to celebrate the grand finale of our Exhibition season with what has been coined the “Show of Shows” the “Westminster of the Bird Shows” the “Pinnacle of the show season” and about every other moniker imagined.  The NBS show is really a gathering of exhibitors to compete and show off the results of many hours of the birds in their care.  Countless hours of feeding, housing, breeding and show preparation. Most of the entries you will see at this exhibition have been entered in numerous Local and Regional shows.  Many have won, and many have hopes of winning this weekend.

The National Bird Show has a long history.  The longest continuously running show in the United States, we are celebrating our 71st show in 2019. Starting in the Chicago area, the NBS has traveled around the United States, and even Puerto Rico, before settling back in the original area.

The NBS board works tirelessly to host a show that not only carries forward our traditions and values but also adjusts to the trends of the fancy.  We hope you all enjoy your time with us.  Rekindle old acquaintances and make new friends for the future.  Have fun, enjoy the experience and take in the sights and sounds of the 71st National Bird Show.
